1st Birthday and 2nd Child

Hmm, not quite sure what he's supposed to do with the cupcake...

The news of the month (besides Anderson's first birthday) - yep, we're having another child! A day after Anderson's first birthday, we found out we are pregnant with our second child. And come to find out, I'm quite far along! According to the doc, most likely at four months. We are so very excited and Anderson, well, he doesn't quite know what to think yet, but we feel that Anderson is going to be a wonderful big brother.

In other news, we had Anderson's birthday party and had a great time! He wasn't quite sure what to do initially with the cupcake (apple cake w/homemade whipped topping), but once he got the gist, he was off and running and LOVED it!

Anderson and his silly smile

Christmas day and Anderson checking out his new ride and toys!

This video is a few weeks old, so you can imagine that he walks a lot better now. He is just so excited to walk that he gets a huge smile on his face every time he walks around the house - especially away from mommy and daddy as fast as he can!

He's Walking!

Yes, you read me correctly - little Anderson is walking and is taking charge! He is still in the new stages of walking (even though he really has been on his feet for a month), but he sometimes still prefers crawling over walking; must be the bumps and bruises he's gotten along the way has deterred him a little. Once he hit that stage it was like he became a new little man. He is ever so determined to get into everything and he seems a little taller ;0)
Of course, now the new rules in the house are 1). keep the bathroom door shut and 2). keep the gate closed to the stairwell. He has tried (and very successfully, I might add) to get into the toilet and to go upstairs.

It is scary to think that in a little over a month he will turn 1 (I am already planning the party)! And sorry no pictures are posted AGAIN! I really am going to try to put some up soon. I have a video of him walking for all to see.

Au Revoir for now!

Toy Room

So Trevor and I decided on Saturday to take up a project...toy room for Anderson. Now I realize we have mentioned that we wouldn't do that, but with all his toys in the living room it was beginning to become overcrowded. So toy room it is! We spent most of the day putting it together and we have such a fun little room for Anderson to play in. He took to it right away and now goes between that room and the living room doing his little scoot while holding onto a toy - usually a ball :-)
He also is learning to repeat everything! He replies to our questions and is so darn smart. It's hard to believe how such a little man can learn something so huge in even one day!

A Bird's Eye View of Our Life

Hi All! A good friend of mine gave me this brilliant idea to start a blog (she has one for her family). Why not? I can post pics and give you all an update as to the Trevor, Amanda and Anderson Brookens goings-on. So, to all of you near and far, Enjoy!!

This Christmas was quite an amusing one for me and Trevor. Anderson, at nearly 10 months, had no inclination of doing anything besides what he wanted to do - play at his favorite chair! That is, until he saw what was under the shiny paper. He loved everything and so did we! A few items he received were a Radio Flyer Retro Rocket, Noah's Ark, Jet Plane, Safari Jeep rig, mirror, clothes, movies, the list goes on and on. And you can probably imagine that Trevor and I have about as much fun with his toys and movies as he does. --- I will post Christmas pics soon.

And a little update as to Anderson's advancements: He is THIS close to walking, His smile is becoming toothier at nearly 8 teeth now, Everyday he wows his mommy and daddy and melts our hearts at the same time, and daily we realize how blessed we are.
